Redeclaration of Independence

King George III was King of England in 1776 when we declared our independence.  His generals could have killed Gen. Washington, but spared him in hopes that the colonists would reunite with England.  Instead, we bravely fought the British for 4 more years and finally won our independence.

Our Declaration of Independence says the following:

  • We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
  • That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed
  • That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it

Is it possible, just 240 years after winning our independence from a foreign tyrant, that we have polluted and forfeited all of our gains?  Are we that immature, selfish and arrogant?  And is it possible that we have allowed the very government that was established to avoid the tyranny of King George to explode into a nuclear mushroom cloud of ego, lies, backroom deals with our enemies, leaders secretly accepting pay for favors, an economy trillions of dollars in debt and leaders giving out millions to our enemies to buy … what?
